Do you have any advice for someone, such as myself, who is looking to start drawing? Or even any books/websites/etc. that you would recommend? Thanks, I love your monsters, they are so beautiful and full of character!

chrisryniak:

My advice is to get a big sketchbook and draw everything you see!  Draw your hands, over and over again, in every position.  Draw a houseplant, your cat, your family members, people in a cafe’ or at the airport.  Take your sketchbook to the zoo.  Learn how to draw gestures quickly before doing more refined drawings.   Open the hood of your car and draw the engine!  Challenge yourself!   Take that sketchbook with you everywhere, and draw EVERY DAY!    Learning how to draw from life may seem like a drag, but it teaches all the fundamentals you need to be able to draw convincing monsters, characters and environments from your imagination!  Learn the rules before you try to break them.

GOOD LUCK!  HAVE FUN!
